| A picturesque mountain village,
which still uses traditional farming methods, Megève discovered its tourist
vocation at the beginning of the 20th century, by welcoming summer tourists,
and began to develop its winter sports resort assets in the 1913 season.
It quickly gained an international renown (spurred on by baroness Noémie
de Rothschild, who built the hotel palace du Mont d'Arbois in the winter
of 1921).
