In Haute Savoie, La Clusaz is one of the leading ski resorts in the Aravis Massif, and the home town of former world-class skiers Guy Périllat and Edgar Grospiron. This ski resort in the Northern Alps is ideally situated at a major communication crossroads in Europe. In winter it has facilities for skiing and winter sports of all kinds, with 132 km (82 miles) of pistes. Sports you can do here include carving, snowboarding, skwal, Telemark, free riding, and ski baby for children.

La Clusaz knows how to keep up with the times ! In summer this pretty and picturesque village, nestling at the foot of the Aravis mountains, is awash with colour from the flower-decked balconies of its chalets. A natural treasure-trove of greenery, it's a paradise for walkers and mountain bikers. Welcome, charm and friendliness are the bywords of this authentic resort, whose inhabitants have a long tradition of welcoming visitors with open arms. Whatever season you visit, La Clusaz has the whole range of sports, leisure and relaxation facilities, everything for the perfect mountain holiday.

Stylish and authentic. Both a winter sports and a summer resort, La Clusaz is one of the oldest mountain resorts in France. It first opened its doors to visitors at the start of the century, and today it is one of the most highly regarded of the hundred or so winter sports resorts in France. The right combination of tradition and modernity, La Clusaz has found the perfect balance.

Skiing in La Clusaz

The ski area at La Clusaz is vast, with 55 ski lifts serving 132 km (82 miles) of pistes spread over 5 separate massifs : Beauregard, la Croix Fry-Manigod-Merdassier, l'Etale, l'Aiguille and Balme, all of which are closely linked. It is suitable for skiers of all levels, and the landscapes and panoramas you see from between the pine trees are simply unforgettable...

The best terrain for experts is at La Balme, where a number of fairly challenging runs can be found, also a few areas around L'Aiguille. La Clusaz is great for intermediates so long as the snow is good, enabling them to travel long distances on wide, groomed runs between the 5 Massifs. For beginners the best slopes are at the top of Beauregard, which also has a long gentle run back to the village.

The Manigod and Etale massifs offer several runs for intermediate skiers as well as a wide choice of facilities. The Aiguille Massif on the other hand offers advanced skiers a black run (Vraille) and several red runs. Speed-record trial and acrobatic ski jumping are also available. Cross country skiers have at their disposal 70 km of tracks including 12 loops.

The ski area is linked to La Grand-Bornard, both areas having a common pass under the name of Aravis.

La Clusaz is approximately 5 minutes drive from the chalet.
