The peaks and summits of the Aravis mountain range, the highest of which is the Pointe Percée at 2752 m (9,030 ft), stand out sharply against the sky. The range is characterised by a succession of valleys, some of which are incised, harbouring little pockets of snow, and others, much wider, are home to ancient meadow chalets. Walking in the Aravis mountains is the wonderful surprise of discovering a tarn behind a col, chancing upon ibex or marmots around a corner, or climbing one of the recent rock climbing routes.
The La Clusaz footpath network covers an altitude range of around 1500 m (5,000 ft) in the mountains, offering a variety of landscapes : green Alpine meadows, great pine forests, limestone cliffs with precipitous tops. All the paths are maintained and marked for all levels of difficulty - from family strolls to the ascension of the Pointe Percée ; from the Aravis routes for rock climbing (grades 3 to 8) to the new "Yves Pollet Villard" Via Ferrata climbing path (opened in summer 1998)
On the edge of the village and open to all, this is a collection of around 30 flower varieties found in our mountains, such as Koch's gentian, Alpine columbine, etc.
Every week, the high-mountain guides run a programme of trips for beginners and more experienced mountaineers (Easy glacier hiking, night in an Alpine hut, high-altitude climbs : snow, glacier, rock).

Canoraft Come and experience the excitement of white water rafting in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. Groups of 6 to 8 rafters accompanied by a helmsman, or individual trips in a twin or single-seater inflatable boat. Rafting is open to anyone over 12 years, including beginners, and takes place on the Giffre or Dranse rivers. Descents are supervised by Jacques Calori, world canoeing champion and a qualified rafter, and his team of instructors. Swimming costumes should be worn. Each descent lasts approximately 2 hours.

Without a doubt, La Clusaz is the ideal place for mountain biking. Whether you're a professional, an amateur or a novice, nothing beats a fabulous run through the pine forests. At La Clusaz, 2 cable cars and a chair lift are open in the summer to take you and your bike to the top. A range of circuits are available, graded like ski runs : green (easiest), blue, red and black (hardest). There are no less than 120 km (75 miles) of mountain biking trails at La Clusaz, more than enough for even the most demanding biker! Bikes and equipment can be hired in various sports shops in the village and trips accompanied by a professional are also available. Five-hole course near La Chapelle aux Confins, with driving ranges, chipping areas, bunkers and putting green. Open daily from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The first paragliding school in La Clusaz, opened in 1986. Approved by the FFVL (French Free Flight Federation), the school is open all year round, with tuition from qualified instructors. The following are available : first-time tandem flights, try-out days, beginners' courses, intermediate courses, beginners' courses for adolescents, cross-country courses, roving courses, F.I.S.weekends, trips abroad (Spain).

A fun ride suitable for absolutely everyone. Two runs, each one 800 m (875 yards) long, reached using the Patinoire gondola.
The Cortibot Ranch on the road to Les Confins, 1 km (1/2 mile) from the village, is open daily from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 4 to 8 p.m. On horses or large ponies, beginners' and advanced lessons in manege, with "picnic" pony rides. Insurance also available.
